  • Detailed Brief
  • My company is creating a new branded jewelry line. Mostly stainless steel jewelry.

    Modern, premium, cool.

I'd prefer the website did not have "jewelry" in it, but it could be ok. I'd prefer a 1 word brand, but 2 could be ok, even possibly 3 if including the word jewelry.

Easy to say and spell is better. Shorter is better.

I really don't want to worry about trademark and copyright issues, so make sure the name is not used elsewhere already.

I am open to all your ideas. I think something like the Apple of jewelry might be cool, and it could be called like "Metaltech". Another idea is the standard of having a fancy European name like "Lorado". These are just ideas.

The duration is for 9 days, but I may end it early if I see a perfect name, so please don't wait until the last moment.

    Thanks.

    Notes added Aug 17:

I made the contest public so that you can see my ratings which should help you with further ideas.

The target audience is men and women so the brand should appeal to both. For example, "Prettylata" and "Toughmetal" are out.

I am not really looking for random permutations of the words "steel", "silver", "gems", "jewelry", etc, unless it is a really outstanding idea.

    Thanks.

Like kbx mentioned, the names of jewelry brands have something to do with the names of their founders. A concept worth pursuing ......

Just hope the contest holder's name is Dan Calio. :)

Ok, the contest ends in 24 hours. This is a guaranteed contest and I stand by that, somebody will definitely win this contest.

I have some favorites already but nothing is finalized.

Final idea: a brand name fitting of a luxury European sports car brand: Ferrari, Bugatti, Aston Martin, Citroen, Maserati, etc. The Ferrari imagery of elegance, design, modernity, and quality is the kind of thing I want my jewelry brand to evoke.

    Thanks!

but this kind of brainstorming seems mindless, but eventually the client 'might' find something name-worthy, unless the clients gets confused with too many similar sounding names, but that the thing with these fashion brands, they mean nothing, they are usually the surnames of the person who found the brand, but in that case the brand derives its power from the popularity of that person/designer, how will the brand you launch derive its popularity? simply by sounding like the cool ones? i doubt, please re think strategy

We're getting down to the deadline. For the past 200 or so entries, I have only added ratings to the ones that standout to me.

I have some ideas about what I'd like though nothing final yet.

If you have some new cool ideas, please post them.

    Thanks.

Coopertex get your facts straight. Some of us know some languages here.

"il" from Italian article "the" for masculine words. That's European isn't it?

"Forge" from English "A forge is both the workplace and hearth of a smith or a blacksmith" Jewels apply, somehow. Is the English language European? I think so.

Add those two words together and you have a fancy English Italian name that makes more than perfect sense for a jewelry maker.

All in all, yes it DOES sound European because IT IS European. Besides yeah! It sounds cool.

    Coopertex "Il" from Italian :)
Forge, from English, from blacksmiths terminology. The mix? European. English Italian is European.
    That's a fact
  • Is it?

As cool as "iForge" sounds. it doesn't seem very European. But that's just my opinion.

Well, I feel a bit overwhelmed with designer brand names, but that's a good thing. A lot of them kind of just blend together and it's getting hard to rate them since most of them are "good".

Some of my new 2 stars are equal to my old 3 stars. But I have tried to show ones that really stand out with 3 and 4 star ratings.

Let's try a little modification but on the same theme:

I like the direction this is going.

As you can see from my ratings, I am preferring names that sound like designer European brands. Imagine you're at a nice mall, and amongst the Gucci, Versace, Armani, Cartier shops, you see my shop, and the name fits in perfectly.

    What is that name?

(I am still leaving open the possibility of a different kind of name too. Somebody said "ilForge" which I think is quite cool.)

Hi, The examples you gave, MetalTech and Lorado I think are quite masculine.

Who is your ideal customer? Thanks.
