  • Detailed Brief
  • Hi! I have recently come up with a really big idea. I am going to be creating a website called Vocation Inspiration. The main purpose for the site will be to feature a huge selection of videos that show interesting jobs and careers, and the challenges and opportunities involved in those jobs. I'll be using a combination of interviews and footage to create documentary-style overviews of interesting and unusual careers such as props manager at a theater, an animal therapist, an international tour guide, a romance novel author, and many more (over 150 videos eventually!)

I believe this site will be greatly appreciated by high school and college students who want to look into more non-traditional careers; mid-career workers who would like to change careers; and people wanting to start their own business but who would like to learn more about the business first.

In the meantime, I need funding to kick-start this dream. So, I'm creating this contest to see who can publicize my funding request and lead to the most funding given to me.

The link to promote is this one: www.indiegogo.com/vocationinspiration

If you go there, you'll see a bunch of social media icons; if you click on those, you will get your own individual tracking link so that I can tell where the referrals and funding came from! Cool, huh?

How this contest will work: the person whose social media promotion results in the most funding wins. In other words, if a person gets 100 people to visit my funding page and that results in $4000 in funding, that person would win over another person who gets 500 people to my page but only generates $1000 in funding.

Thank you and good luck! Help me make my dream possible by getting me at least $7,500 worth of funding!!!

[p.s.] If I get the full $7,500 of funding through the efforts of Squadhelp contestants, I will award a $100 second prize, and a $50 third prize!

is for you to establish a known identity first before you can allocate funds from strange people on the web. who knows bill gates might stumble over your page and hire you instead. not sure, but i'm trying to be optimistic but realistic. you can start by uploading viral videos on youtube... that is interesting and then campaign will go on and spread like wildfire on blogs, forums, other areas on the web. you don't even have a photo or detail information about yourself. sorry. just my 2 cents. wish you best.

Hi to current contestants and future entrants!

Only 25 days left in the contest. Please be sure to follow the rules I have posted, and use a social media referral link from my listing, which can be found here: www.indiegogo.com/vocationinspiration. The only way I can choose the winner is if I can see how much traffic has been driven to my listing. This is very important! If no one does so, I will not be able to choose the most deserving winner.

    Thank you,

    Jennifer

Just to clarify my comment below, before making the test post, please visit www.indiegogo.com/vocationinspiration and grab one of the social media referral links. That's the only way I'll be able to tell in my IndieGoGo dashboard if contestants are promoting Vocation Inspiration.

    Thanks!

Hi everyone! I invite you to make one test post on your Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or other social or promotional site, then let me know where and when you posted it so I can log into my IndieGoGo account dashboard, and ensure that you show up as a promoter.

    Thanks!

Hi, zamper1, thanks for the comment. I do agree that funding something intangible and undeveloped is not an easy sell. However, the ability to fund anywhere from just one dollar (or any other low-level amount which a person is comfortable with) will hopefully negate any reluctance based on the idea-only status of the project. Thanks again!

I would love to promote your URL by participating in this contest, but just to set realistic goals, the viral marketing will most likely result in traffic to your website, not necessarily funding. Will definitely try but getting funding on internet from end users for something that is not ready yet is not an easy target.
