- Detailed Brief
- Dear Creatives,
The company name is required for a new luxury fashion brand for men. The company will tailor suits and shirts on demand in the same way a regular tailor does however the business will be completely online based.
Products sold: suits, shirts and other formal fashion clothing items and accessories.
Price of products: high
Quality of products: very high
Origin of products: United Kingdom
Market for products: US, Japan. Europe, Canada, Australia
Route to the market: online
The brand name:
1. The brand name should NOT have any association with products sold, market or fashion, e.g. suits4u, 4men, etc. It must be completely distant.
2. NO hyphens or numbers. Only single word. No two words put together (smartsuist, londonfasion)
3. Very EASY to pronounce. Very easy to remember.
4. Most importantly the name should have clear traditional English (not just language but coming from England) heritage. It should not be associated with any other countries such as Italy or France. Heritage should be associated with the name.
5. Maximum of 8 letters, fewer the better. Must be available on .com, .eu and co.uk however for very good name just .com would be acceptable.
6. Example of similar brands (in terms of a product rather than the name): http://www.crombie.co.uk/; http://www.drakes-london.com/; http://www.h-huntsman.com/;
7. Examples of very good names: Hackett, huntsmen, Crombie, blackstone, ascot, Hackney.
8. Examples of bad names: Lanciot (European association), smartfashion (cheap and not associated with England); isquire (not traditional English origin, association with the established brand Esquire and difficult to pronounce, masablan, calibran (both European association rather than English).
9. Can (but does not have to) be made up (without any meaning) however no obvious association with established brands.
10. It is very important that it sounds as a brand for men. No feminine association. The man should be proud to say what brand of suit he is wearing without having difficulties with pronunciations.
How winner will be chosen:
1. I will choose number of names I like and will create a questionnaire where large sample of people (mostly men) will rate the name between 1 and 10. They will be aware what the name is for.
2. I will also ask them to indicate those names that have negative association and that are not easily pronounced.
3. I will also ask a sample to note those names that they remembered (no access to list of names at that point).
4. Eventually I will take best 5 and talk to potential customers on streets to find out their opinion.
I will provide you feedback on daily basis.
Thank you.
