  • Detailed Brief
  • We're getting set to launch a website containing daily Q&A plus a weekly audio/video podcast. The daily Q&A will tackle one question from the audience each day in text and pictures. The weekly podcast will use mainly audio with some images to either answer a bunch of questions or explore one question in greater depth.

The questions will be religious and doctrinal in scope, with some application to making choices in life. The unique value of the site is in addressing what are often considered "mysteries of faith" with rational and understandable ideas (questions about three gods or about bad things happening to good people, for example). Religion can and does make sense. If you don't understand something, you cannot have faith in it and so will not live a life in line with those mysterious teaching that are part of a "blind faith."

The person writing the answers will be a priest of the New Christian Church. This means that the answers will be informed by ideas that are Christian and Biblical, but not Roman Catholic or Evangelical Protestant. The works of Emanuel Swedenborg feature prominently. There will likely be regular comparison between New Christian Church ideas and other Christian church teachings. But there will also be significant exploration into the deeper ideas of New Christian Church theology.

Basically, we're trying to provide a rational religion with understandable teachings to people who have questions about any religion. Whereas other religions, especially Christian religions, treat many teachings as something you just have to believe regardless of its reasonableness, the New Christian Church tries to make all teachings understandable and rational.

Also, the New Testament book of Revelation has significant importance to the New Christian Church, as we believe that the Holy City New Jerusalem is a symbol of God's regeneration of the human race through the rational teachings of the New Christian Church.

Some website that may help with ideas about the New Christian Church:
    notfridayclass.com
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emanuel_Swedenborg
    http://www.theisticscience.org/

Some key phrases that often have significant meaning for the New Christian Church community:
    "understanding the mysteries of faith"
    "a religion that makes sense"
    "new revelation"
    "New Jerusalem"
"the second coming and Last Judgement took place in 1757 in the spiritual world by means of a new revelation given through Emanuel Swedenborg."

Hi everyone, I was starting to get too many 5-star suggestions, so I bumped a handful down to 4-stars. I want to keep not too many more than 10 5-star ranking to help keep the front runners clear and help you see my thinking.

Sorry if yours was bumped. There just so much good stuff...

I like the reference to mysteries of faith, but "mysteryfaith" sounds too much like promoting a mystery religion.

PriestPal.com is good because it is catchy, not too heavy, and is easy to say, spell, and remember. "Pal" might be a little too light, but I like the direction.
  • "faith" not necessary

I notice that my top ranks all include the word "faith" but wanted to remind you that the word "faith" is not necessary
  • ratioligion is close, but not close

I really like the idea behind ratioligion, combining rational and religion, but it's too difficult to understand and pronounce.

I don't get this one. Is there an explanation?
  • "cult" is right out

the word "Cult" usually has a very negative connotation. Words like "sect" or "schism" probably won't work either.
