  • We need a logo for a company that will deal primarily in architectural supply products (walls, ceilings and floors) for big projects in the Persian Gulf area (Dubai, Qatar, Kuwait, etc.). There may be a few other businesses that we run through this main business, so the logo cannot be so completely tied to architecture that there is no flexibility, but it is fine to use architectural elements or styles in the logo.

    We need something VERY classy that projects an image of high quality and business relationships based on trust and stability. We are looking for something timeless, refined, and elegant. “Amanah” means trust in Arabic, and is something we want to convey in the logo. Modern is fine, and colors are fine, but not “colorful” (like twitter, Google, skype). You can take inspiration from any of the high fashion clothing, law firm, or established architecture agency logos.

    You can use text for Amanah, or the “A” or use a pictorial image to base the logo. We are open to many different ideas as long as they match the basic criteria. We appreciate thinking “outside of the box”.

    See the jpg attachment for some logos that I have liked. These were chosen by random from the web, so do not represent a complete list by any means. But they are a few that I was able to find in a half an hour on the web that looked like things we would like.

    COMPANY NAME: Amanah Business Solutions.
    Note: The logo should aim at just "Amanah" rather than the whole title. However, it would be best if there is room for the rest of the title as a secondary graphic. Depending on the style, however, we would not require that. If you have a great idea that would only fit "Amanah," we would still like to see it. The actual registered name of the business is just "Amanah." We can include the "business solutions" as part of a secondary set of graphics or as a tag line elsewhere.

    We would prefer the final files to be in Illustrator (.ai) format or, if necessary, in Photoshop (.psd). Thanks.

    We are down to our last three choices and will make our final decision today or tomorrow. It has NOT been easy... so many of the logos have been fantastic. Thank you particularly 32design, eldiardo, mariah33, and sajie. Your logos have been the most liked by our surveys. We have bumped up to 5 stars the highest rated work.     I just wanted to say a big "Thank You!" to everyone who participated in this contest. The decision for which we will choose will be a hard one as there are so many very good entries. I will be surveying a number of people for their input now, and I hope to have a final answer at the beginning of next week.

    There have been a number of Font choices on the samples so far. I think of all of them I tend to like the classic looking fonts the best, ones with small serifs but classic block. There are some of the logos that are a little more stylized that really work well with a different kind of font, but most seem to do better with the classy fonts. I did a quick search through MSWord and Photoshop included fonts, and here are a few that would fit this catagory:

    Iskoola Pota
    Century
    Bell MT
    Felix Titling
    Palatino Linotype
    Adobe Fangsong Standard

    Again, some of the logos do not need this kind of font because they just work better with something else... it all depends on the style of the logo.

    Also, the "Business Solutions" line should not stand out the way that "Amanah" does. So it should be in a more subtle font. It could be that "Amanah" is done in a serif typeface and "Bus Soln" is done in a non-serif typeface, or in just one with much smaller serifs. But regardless, the tag should be graphically subordinate to the headline "Amanah."

    Several good entries have been withdrawn, and I am not sure why. We are still early in the contest, and getting a feel for what works and does not. I do not expect that anyone's first entry will be the winner (though it is possible), but the comments I make on those entries I hope will help you and others develop the right style. So please leave the rough drafts in the contest... they are good beginnings! I appreciate your work on them and would like to honor the time you spent.
